More About Me

Raul Moreno - REALTOR®

I’m originally from Eagle Pass, Texas.  Growing up, I developed a passion for both Education and Real Estate.  My father was a teacher for 35 years, and my two grandfathers both worked in the Real Estate industry.  One worked as a foreman for a construction company building single family homes, small businesses and multi-family apartments while my other grandfather was a Real Estate Investor, buying vacant lots and building small homes or duplexes for rent.  My father believed in “helping people” through education, and my grandfathers believed in “helping people” by building homes, businesses or small rentals.

I have a Bachelors in Business Administration and a Master's in Education from Sul Ross State University.  I decided to follow in my father’s footsteps, pursuing my passion for education, working as a business teacher and basketball coach at Eagle Pass High School.  After 4 years teaching, I moved to Austin where I worked as a Middle School Counselor, High School Assistant Principal and Middle School Principal in Austin ISD.  My success in Austin ISD led me to work in four other districts as a Director, Executive Director and Assistant Superintendent, later returning to Austin ISD as Associate Superintendent supervising all 18 middle schools.

My father always stressed that working as an educator is very rewarding and provides a steady income.  And my grandfathers both stressed that investing in real estate is much safer and more profitable than investing in the stock market.  So during my time as a Counselor, at the age of 27, I decided to stop renting and purchase my first single-family home, which I still own today.  Soon after, I married my beautiful wife Bernice, and we had our first child.  We decided to become part-time real estate investors by renting our home and purchasing a duplex and living on one side while renting the other.  After the birth of our second child, we bought another single-family home and after our third child, we once again bought another home, each time a little bigger.  We enjoy owning a business, being landlords, meeting new tenants, buying more properties, and managing our growing real estate portfolio.

After 30 years of “helping people” through education and 20 years of “helping people” with a place to comfortably live in (as a landlord), I decided to retire as an educator and pursue a new career as a Real Estate Agent, while continuing to grow our real estate business.  I interviewed five brokers before deciding to work for JBGoodwin REALTORS, whose sole purpose is the same as mine, "helping people."

Over the years, I’ve worked with many agents, lenders, appraisers, inspectors, title companies, and contractors.  I’ve built a network of business partners throughout Austin.  I’ve learned much about real estate investing, buying, renting, remodeling, refinancing, selling, and managing properties.  My new passion is to utilize what I’ve learned to “help people” accomplish their own real estate goals and dreams.  If you’re interested in selling, leasing, renting or purchasing a new home or investment property, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I’m happy to help in any way I can.
